Yes, i mostly agree. Except with the following statements:

"replaced with something meant solely for mindless entertainment." >> This is the very essence of der film. This is all der film is, from start to finish (gettting worse over time). In the worst possible way i have ever seen since Michael Bay made 'Transformers'. Actually, this is even worse.

"I was more willing to accept the franchise's idiosyncrasies at the start (S1 and Der Film) " >> I swear to you, you absolutely CAN'T put S1 and der film in the same bag. They are completely different beasts. I can even already tell that part 4 is likely closer to S1 than der film is. That was the whole point of my message to you. Even the few parts that try to introduce shallow tactics in der film are rotten with abusive nonsense. Like when they try to fire a barrage of fire: looks like heavy bombing as if it was 1916 and Verdun again, by there are only a few tanks firing their main guns like autocanons. It is just beyond impossible to get that severe a barrage, even with thrice as many tanks. Which makes zero sense. S1 introduced this realistic idea that firing a main gun takes time, and in some cases, it may end up as a speed contest between loaders. Der Film is 237% about 'entertainment value, flashy moves and bangs, to the total detriment of any kind of believability or respect of any rule set by season 1'. This is what der fim is to me.

Maybe you should binge watch parts of 'der film' again in order to understand what i am trying to say. I am sure you won't have to watch it all in order to remember. Good day to you.

I haven't yet watched GuP Saishuushou part 4, but i can already say that i endorse your review. You described many things i had a problem with, too. Most notably, the nonsensical situations that really challenge the suspension of disbelief and sabotage the in-universe ruleset 'shoukai shimasu' had detailed for GuP. It is merely that, at the same time,... You wrote something that bugs me in your review:

"at least in the case of the 2015 Girls & Panzer Movie as well as the initial two installments of this movie series, tactics seemed to be given actual thought and proper implementation. There was strategy, something of substance to feel engaged with"

And i am puzzled. Because quite frankly, i consider the film to be by far the worst atrocity in the GuP franchise so far.

This is where you see, among other things:
-Tanks disguised as ducks and sneaking around.
-Tanks climbing steep 50+% inclines on a rollercoaster, with no wagon, despite their tracks never touching anything. THey just slide upwards for some reason.
-Tanks throwing other tanks in the air to 'dunk' cannonballs into something.
-Tanks that skid around on the beach and shoot all around as if performing figure skating.
-And even a tank on the bigger side skidding around on a 360° axis, while dodging every projectile possible, all the while at the same time firing accurately its main cannon as fast as an autocanon. Sebastien Loeb can't even do half of that with his Citroën rallye.
-And worse, there is Arisu in 'der Film'. The loli who looks like a grade schooler, who loves teddy bears, is shy, speaks in a cute vocie, behaved like a pre-schooler, but just happens to be in university anyway... Just because authors needed an excuse for loli pandering, they introduced the sad excuse of her being a 'genius'... With all the insufferable tropes going with it.

I am seriously curious as to how the heck did you manage to find season 1 and der film similar?
